Meet the Team - Fay Connelly

Continuing our series giving you a sneak peak into the houses of our team, this week we focus on Fay who supports Jane in the shop and Lisa in interior design.

Who are you and what do you do at Lisa Dawson Interiors?

Hi, I’m Fay and I have been part of the team for nearly 5 years now. I would say that my role at Lisa Dawson Interiors is pretty diverse depending on the day! From coffee to clients there are lots of elements to my job to do and learn and I love it all! When working on site I often meet clients to measure and advise, assist the fitter putting up hardware and make finishing touches when hanging and steaming curtains. In the studio I assist Jane and meet clients to discuss schemes and help where I am needed.

Where do you live and in what style of house?

I live in Aylsham; I love that I can walk my daughter to school and then walk to work. Being part of the team has made me really feel part of the community after working away from Norfolk for many years. I live on the Norfolk Homes estate in a semi-detached new build – I am blessed with good neighbours - with my husband, daughter and two dogs. Inside we have worked hard to create space and use the natural light by taking down walls to create an open plan scheme. We also added an extension to the rear which is now our snug, complete with log burner!

What is your style and what inspires you in terms of furnishings and decor?

I would say that I have an eclectic style – from William Morris to Edward Hopper - I find bits of things that I like – maybe part magpie! I gravitate towards natural lines and textures mixing them with warm neutral tones. I also like to mix old and new and love items with a story or connection to my past.

Which is your current favourite room?

It's hard to choose! My bedroom is an oasis of calm and I love it - especially when you have young children it's nice to have a grown-up space.  I chose a calming cloud wallpaper from Sanderson's Elysian range and it makes me smile everytime I go in the room! The colour palette is duck egg blue but then I have added warm accents in the gold and wood from the bedside table and lamp.

I also love my workspace where I am currently studying for my KLC Interior Design qualification. The desk and chair are old family pieces and sit well with the modern equipment - there are no distractions so it's easy to work in the evenings and get down to my studying.

Old mixed with the new - and no distractions!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I like to relax with my friends and family – within this I include my two four legged friends, Poppy and Bertie! We all enjoy walks in our beautiful countryside and time in the garden!

If you like Fay's style or would like advice on creating your own style, why not get in touch with us.  We can help with one window, one room or a whole house and can offer video consultations or alternatively come and measure if that suits you better. We can also offer paint and interior consultations for those tricky rooms you don't know quite what to do with. We look forward to welcoming you to the studio soon. Until then keep safe.
