We thought it would be a really nice idea to showcase our amazing team at Lisa Dawson Interiors and there is no better way to do this than to produce a series of blogs about the team. A simple Q&A will give you some idea of the team members and what they like to do, how they like to spend their time and what sort of style they have. Please feel free to comment if you would like - we hope you enjoy these posts.
First up is Debbie, our Head Seamstress.
Who are you and what do you do at Lisa Dawson Interiors?
My name is Debbie and I am the head seamstress at Lisa Dawson Interiors. I’ve worked for Lisa for over 10 years now and have had the opportunity to make some beautiful furnishings for some very beautiful houses.
Where do you live and in what style of house?
I live in Sheringham, up on the North Norfolk coast with my husband and two mad spaniels and am very lucky to be in this part of the world. We have a 1970’s style house and have lived here for over 20 years so there have been many changes since we moved in.
What is your style and what inspires you in terms of furnishings and décor?
I love the light that we get here on the Norfolk coast, so our house is as open plan as possible, with plenty of large windows to let the light in. We have knocked down walls to increase the size of the downstairs and also have a light-filled conservatory. We have visited Grenada in the Caribbean many times over the years and I am always inspired after a trip there – the colours are so vibrant and the sunshine plentiful so I have tried to get a slice of this in to my own home using furnishings and wallpaper.
Which is your current favourite room?
I love our Master Bedroom, which we have recently decorated. The beautiful Hummingbird wallpaper from Harlequin’s Amazilia range is vibrant and makes me smile every time I look at it. We put it on one wall behind the bed and then I chose an equally beautiful fabric, mirroring the hummingbirds on the wallpaper, and made a pair of interlined curtains with a double pleat heading.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
We both love the outdoors and walk with our dogs as often as possible. A favourite is the National Trust’s Sheringham Park, especially when the rhododendrons are in full bloom in the late Spring, early Summer, but we also like to walk on the beach – Norfolk skies are very special and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, having been born and brought up here. In fact, one of my very favourite possessions is a painting by local artist Lucy Loveheart – it’s called Norfolk World and it shows all of the great things Norfolk has to offer and the beauty of living by the seaside. We are very lucky.
